Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Christian Initiation, completing the grace received at Baptism. It is a sacrament of mature Christian commitment, deepening our baptismal gifts and uniting us more firmly to Christ and His Body, the Church. Through a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Confirmation bestows upon us the same graces granted to the Apostles on Pentecost, empowering us with a special strength to spread and defend the faith by word and deed as true witnesses of Christ. If Baptism is the sacrament of rebirth to a new life, Confirmation is the sacrament of growth and maturity, enabling us to boldly confess the name of Christ and never be ashamed of the Cross.

At Sacred Heart Parish, we welcome all eligible children and others to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Children attending Sacred Heart school will undertake their preparation through the school program. For children outside the school, typically in Grade 6 or older, who wish to receive Confirmation, we invite you to contact the parish office or speak with the parish priest. The parish provides dedicated preparation sessions to guide them in understanding and embracing this sacrament of empowerment, which strengthens them to follow Jesus and participate in the mission of the Church. Please note that, generally, this sacrament cannot be received in the same year as a child's First Eucharist.
