The Sacrament of Matrimony is a profound covenant established by God, signifying and participating in the mystery of unity and fruitful love between Christ and the Church. Through this sacrament, Christian spouses are strengthened and consecrated for the duties and dignity of their state, helping each other to attain holiness in their married life and in the acceptance and education of their children. It is a vocation that calls spouses to love each other with perpetual fidelity through mutual self-bestowal, reflecting Christ's love for his Church and contributing jointly to the glory of God. The marital union, by its very nature, is ordered to the good of the couple and to the generation and education of children, and it is indissoluble, as affirmed by Jesus Christ: "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder" (Mark 10:9).
If you are interested in celebrating the Sacrament of Matrimony at Sacred Heart Church, we invite you to contact the parish office or speak with the parish priest. We encourage couples to reach out at least six months prior to their desired wedding date to allow ample time for preparation. This preparation involves meeting with the priest to get acquainted and complete necessary forms, including providing identification and your Baptism and Confirmation certificates. Couples will also enroll in a marriage preparation course, such as Smartloving, or other alternatives suggested by the priest. The Parish Priest will meet with you multiple times to accompany you through this important period of discernment and readiness for married life. Please note that a contribution of $1,000 is requested to help meet our running costs.
