Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession

The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Penance or Confession, is a profound manifestation of God's love and mercy, offering forgiveness for sins committed after Baptism. Christ instituted this sacrament as a special gift to the Church, enabling individuals to be reconciled with God and the Church community they have wounded by their sins. It provides a new opportunity to convert, recover the grace of justification, and receive spiritual rebirth and sanctification. Through contrition for sins, a firm resolve not to sin again, confession, sacramental absolution, and performing the assigned penance, we are renewed and strengthened by God's grace, restoring full communion with Him and the Church.

At Sacred Heart Parish, we encourage all Catholics to embrace this wonderful sacrament, where you can encounter Jesus who forgives you. Regular confession times are available on Saturday mornings before and after the 9:15 am Mass, Saturday evenings before the 6 pm Mass, and Sunday mornings before the 9:30 am Mass.

Additionally, the Sacrament of Reconciliation can be arranged by request through the parish priest or the parish office.

Students in Sacred Heart Parish school will prepare for this Sacrament through the school and make their first Reconciliation in the church. For this there will be a parent-children night at the school before the sacrament.

Any children outside the school who wish to make their first Reconciliation are invited to contact the parish office and make an appointment to see the parish priest. Please note that children may need some preparation with their parents before making a good first confession (reconciliation).

For further information, please contact the parish office at (03) 9853 6701 or via email at kew@cam.org.au.
