Regular confession times at Sacred Heart Church are Saturday mornings before and after the 9:15am Mass, Saturday evenings before the 6pm Mass, and Sunday mornings before the 9.30am Mass, or by request through the parish priest or the parish office.
Children in the Sacred Heart school will make their preparation through the school, ahead of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Any children outside the school who wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in Sacred Heart Parish are invited to contact the parish office or talk to the parish priest. Typically they are in grade 6 but older children are most welcome. The parish will provide some preparation sessions leading up to receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please also note that this Sacrament cannot be received in the same year as your child makes their First Eucharist. If you have any questions, please contact the parish office
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation and is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. Confirmation perfects our baptism and brings us the graces of the Holy Spirit that were granted to the Apostles on Pentecost Sunday. It is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
If Baptism is the sacrament of re-birth to a new and supernatural life, Confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age. Confirmation is a sacrament of empowerment. It gives the strength to follow Jesus and to become involved in the mission which Jesus left to the Church.
