Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession

We have revised the Sacramental program at Sacred Heart for 2024. Students in Sacred Heart Parish school will prepare for this Sacrament through the school and make their first Reconciliation in the church on Friday May 17. For this there will be a parent-children night at the school on Wednesday the 15th of May. Please note that though the Sacrament of Reconciliation should be made before first Eucharist and Confirmation, it is technically not one of the three Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, First Eucharist (Holy Communion) and Confirmation.

The parents of any children outside the school who wish to make their first Reconciliation are invited to contact the parish office and make an appointment to see the parish priest. Please note that children may need some preparation with their parents before making a good first confession (reconciliation).

The Sacrament of reconciliation is also known as Confession or the Sacrament of Penance. The call of Christ to conversion continues to resound in the lives of the baptised. Conversion is a continuing obligation for the whole Church, in order to prepare us to enjoy heaven, and to shine more brightly in the world with the light of Christ. Sacred Heart offers the opportunity to confess face-to-face or anonymously in the confessional.

Regular confession times at Sacred Heart are Saturday mornings before and after the 9:15am Mass, and Saturday evenings before the 6pm Mass, or by request through the parish priest or the parish office.
